The other thing we get is unfunded liabilities. The governments take the money and spend it. Then they leave an IOU saying some future taxpayer will be on the hook for the massive amounts of money government retirement programs always offer but never/seldom fund.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

One should be able to get an excellent education for very little money.

I'm sure there's problems to overcome, as with any system. I don't think they can be overcome with public schools.

Assume education frees people. Well, you sacrifice liberty to some degree when you set as your goal educating all. Liberty and equality conflict.

It depends on what is being taught. Teaching people readin', 'writin' and 'rithmetic is fine. So it history, as long as it's factual and not revisionist. Teaching kids morality and politically correct ideology? That's indoctrination.

That's an important part of education. Still, kids need to learn how to read, write and do math. Help them learn about the world around them, so history and science is good too...but all with an eye to "learn how to learn".

Agree. The basics. History gets tougher. In Texas, there's a push now to teach the Civil War as exclusively about slavery and remove anything about state's rights. Gets too political.

Agreed, that's PC.....and I'm surprised Texas would accept that although I can see Austin pushing it. Austin is weird.
