They have so much stuff on packaging, that I can't read any of it.

    The text is too small.

It was obviously a loose generalization. Of course no one will come right out and say it in those exact words that you should "eat and drink anything as long as it's profitable." Furthermore, I obviously don't know every Republican and I haven't read every health book. What I said was my impression from my experience. And my impression comes mostly from public figures like talk show hosts on the radio (I don't watch TV), politicians, authors, and, to a lesser extent, the everyday people that I have known.

Here's an example: When the subject of childhood obesity came up in Florida, I don't recall there being any talk about nutrition education in the schools. All the talk I heard in the news was about physical education. Physical education is great but will not solve the problem if kids are eating a lot of high calorie processed foods. So PE was started many years ago and I haven't heard anything in the news about results. If it worked, you would think it would be big news but I haven't heard a word about it. You could argue that Democrats didn't say anything either but we have a Republican controlled congress and I feel that they should have taken the lead. You could also argue that it's the parent's responsibility to see that their kids eat right but that obviously hasn't worked. The kids themselves need nutrition education.

Do you know of any Republican politician who is a leader or spokesperson for nutrition/health? I'm not aware of a single one. Democrats may be interested in it but they're not going about it in the right way, in my opinion.

Who was the President responsible for establishing national ice cream day, week, and month? Anyone remember that? (He was a great President that I voted for twice.)

Starbucks Corp (SBUX.O) and other coffee sellers must put a cancer warning on coffee sold in California, a Los Angeles judge has ruled, possibly exposing the companies to millions of dollars in fines.

A little-known not-for-profit group sued some 90 coffee retailers, including Starbucks, on grounds they were violating a California law requiring companies to warn consumers of chemicals in their products that could cause cancer.
One of those chemicals is acrylamide, a byproduct of roasting coffee beans that is present in high levels in brewed coffee.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elihu Berle said in a decision dated Wednesday that Starbucks and other companies had failed to show there was no significant risk from a carcinogen produced in the coffee roasting process, court documents showed.
Starbucks and other defendants have until April 10 to file objections to the decision.
Starbucks declined to comment, referring reporters to a statement by the National Coffee Association (NCA) that said the industry was considering an appeal and further legal actions.
“Cancer warning labels on coffee would be misleading. The U.S. government’s own Dietary Guidelines state that coffee can be part of a healthy lifestyle,” the NCA statement said.
