I'm watching Geraldo Rivera on Bill Maher via DVR from last Friday April 6th and my respect for him just tripled. He went head to head with Maher over working for Fox. First, and I didn't know this, he walked away a $5M contract at NBC after 9/11 because they wouldn't make him a war correspondent. Fox did make him one, but at nearly half the pay so he could go to war. Part of the reason was that, as New Yorker, he saw the loss of life by the Jihadists. On a more personal note, he said his daughter's school class "lost six daddies" on 9/11. That's an excellent example of patriotism in my book.
Rivera also defended Fox news when Maher kept attacking him for working there. First, Rivera made a clear difference between the day time news reporting and the nighttime talk shows. Maher admitted that he was primarily talking about the nighttime talk shows.
It was clear to me that Rivera was doing his best to stick to facts and that Maher was more about spinning politics, which he accused Rivera of doing, and conjecture.
