I'm writing a screenplay for a publication and needed to find what was going on in 1962...what would you typically hear on an AM radio playing in the background? This was!!!

In 1962 I was in the 11th grade in Jacksonville FL and would go to Daytona Beach for the Motorcycle races. I couldn't wait to graduate from high school. Now I would sincerely like to return to those mellow, laid back days.

Although this came out in 1959 it was still on the radio in 62. Besides it was the story of my life at that time!

About all pop music was AM radio. FM was "snooty" classical music and FM was uncommon in autos. As I recall, FM retained that type of programming until late '60s.
Any music on the charts was on AM. Station demographics were not as distinct as they now are.
