Prominent Lawyer in Fight for Gay Rights Dies After Setting Himself on Fire in NY

NEW TORK — A lawyer nationally known for being a champion of gay rights died after setting himself on fire in Prospect Park in Brooklyn early Saturday and leaving a note exhorting people to lead less selfish lives as a way to protect the planet, the police said.
The remains of the lawyer, David S. Buckel, 60, were found near Prospect Park West in a field near baseball diamonds and the main loop used by joggers and bikers.
Buckel left a note in a shopping cart not far from his body and also emailed it to several news media outlets, including The New York Times.

Friends said that after he left the organization, Buckel became involved in environmental causes, which he alluded to in his note as the reason he decided to end his life by self-immolation with fossil fuels.

    Some people are kooks.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

I pledge allegiance to the Constitution as written and understood by this nation's founders, and to the Republic it created, an indivisible union of sovereign States, with liberty and justice for all.

Setting himself on fire probably left a significant carbon footprint.

How does that advance the ball?

50 something male depression can be a $#@! . Not that most people know about it because it affects "old males" . I wonder if that was in play here? I also wonder if so if it went untreated long enough to cause some pyschosis . Yes, deoression can do that.
At any rate it seems like he released a lot of carbon that could of been buried and eventually become fertilizer.

In the fire service that is what we call a "roast". Too bad he didn't reach out for help.
God Bless America, God Bless our Military and God Bless the Police who defended the country against the insurgents on January 6, 2021

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

If you don't feel like your cause is being taken seriously or advancing I would imagine that it would be infinitely depressing. One person can't really create change, realistically in most cases, although lighting himself on fire is a little bit extreme. Probably psychological issues.
