The police chief said the officers didn't want to make an arrest. And the men were released later when whoever called it in decided not to press charges.
poisoning the well by stating facts? You are ignoring facts. The men were not there just to use the rest room. The fact that the friends they were waiting for arrived before these guys were taken into custody is something you are ignoring. An arrest did not need to be made here. Reasonable officers could have easily diffused this. They didn't.

This was an example of a huge failure by two elements. The supervisor at the Starbucks and the responding officers.

When I see officers act in this manner I cringe. Every time progress is made with the relations between minorities and the police, something stupid like this happens which damages those relations.

From what I read, about ten minutes.

I find it disturbing that anyone can find a way to justify an arrest being made in this situation.

I suppose if you came home and there were people at your house and squatting , refusing to leave, you would just wait it out figuring they would eventually go and never call the authorities...

They probably remain seated and refused to go outside forcing the confrontation with the Police. After all they are BLACKS!

Statements of yours like "One doesn't look good when they are trying to justify this incident. I don't know how or why anyone would" are well poisoning.

I am reporting facts. I know the men were there to meet someone but they weren't asked to leave for that reason but for the fact you omit that they asked to use the restroom and when told store policy requires a purchase for that they refused. And if Starbucks wanted to press charges, I believe the arrest was required.

I'm beginning to see it all as a comedy of errors. Comedy in the ancient Greek sense.

Well, one doesn't look good by justifying this and I don't know how anyone could.

An arrest was not "required". That's nonsense.

Please.....you are comparing this to people squatting in your yard? Get a grip.
