What is known is that the men were meeting someone there, not just trying to use the bathroom without a purchase and that someone profiled them as noncustomers for some reason.
The "some reason" was probably the fact that they didn't purchase anything.

If other customers are undisturbed while waiting for friends and given permission to use the restroom in the meantime, why were these gentlemen both given the bum's rush and made the focus of a trespassing complaint, when they were not creating a disturbance and made it clear that they were awaiting a third?
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

I don't know and it shouldn't matter. Someone occupying a table in a food service establishment who is not ordering has no business there. They are not public waiting areas.

When you go into a restaurant or coffee shop and say that you are waiting until the rest of your party shows up before you will order something, should you be told to leave? Then arrested and taken to jail and held for over eight hours when you refuse?

I know why, but someone would call me names if I stated why.

It depends on how long you are there. If you are waiting for someone, order a beverage. Common courtesy dictates you don't just take up space in a business that depends on getting people in and out and keeping tables filled with paying customers.

Why couldn't the two men, simply have ordered something? A coffee, to sip, while waiting?

Because, by then, it had become a matter of principle.

I think, the manager, or whomever it was, got a little 'concerned' and reacted badly.

Once the police were called, they had to come to a resolution.

I understand about it being a business and, the owners don't make money if people aren't buying anything, but, I've gone into eating establishments and have sat, waiting for another person, without being thrown out by the police. I've always ordered something to drink, though, while waiting.
