I was in a park in the Boston area, and I met an off duty police dog and his off duty handler... apparently the dog was on a police dog soccer team...my sport at the time was soccer. I tried to score a goal against him (the dog) and that pup blocked every shot, we played for quite a while. A couple of decades later, I was working at a store that sold a book called hero dogs, I was just flipping through it and lo and behold, that doggy and his handler had a chapter...my favorite brush with greatness ever! Dog abusers should be de-nutted as far as I am concerned...

I met a semi-famous dog when I was living in Hawaii, though she wasn't a police dog. Her name was Nohaya, and she was one of "the lads" - the Dobermans who guarded the Robin Masters estate on Magnum P.I. She did all of her "tricks" - barking, growling, sitting, running away, etc. - in response to hand signals from her owner. She loved attention, and when she wasn't working, she would just run around from one person to the next wanting to be petted and talked to. A real sweetie.
