The reprobate doctrine was in the OT an NT. Reprobate means reject throughout the Bible. But the OT and NT are written by the same God. Jesus has always been around.

Look, salvation is open to all sinners. It's your choice to accept it or reject it. Period. It's not forced upon you.

Trying is often a matter of degree, especially when it comes to people who identify as Christians.

I try, but I often stray. I'm a believer so I'm forgiven for that. I'll keep that forgiveness as long as I continue to believe.

Obviously the Bible is not overrated if it can be a passionate topic of discussion with people of all faiths or no faith at all.

I committ sins all the time. I don't feel guilt in the sense your are thinking. I know when I have committed a sinful act. I feel fortunate that I have the grace of Christ's forgiveness.


I live a very priveledged life in many ways. I've been blessed. I don't have th time to feel guilty about anything

No onecan follow those rules. I have accepted Christ. I am as much of a sinner as anyone. I'm certainly not tortured. I feel fortunate. Christianity is not "hard core" whatever that is.

Yeah they aren't putting a tax on all non believers, nor throwing gays off rooftops or anything like that.

GQ has a point. It is an overrated book. Millions of people CLAIM to live by its teachings, but very few even really try.

To suggest is is the blueprint that sets the standard of conduct for western civilization is really reaching. In that regard, it is very much overrated.
