I think it's all part of the sense of entitlement displayed by many members of the last couple of generations to hit the workforce. So many think that they should be able to dress as they please, work the hours that they please, cover themselves with obvious tattoos and that employers should feel privileged by their presence. They are incredibly naive about life.

Nothing unfair about it. You don't fit the qualifications, skills, or image that those companies insist (and rightly so).

You are free to make your own choices; you are not free from the consequences of choices.

I don't know that it's the entitlement mentality or a sense of priveledge so much as it is many people today just don't seem to understand that actions have consequences.

I think it's just that many people are impulsive and don't think through their choices. Then instead of owning their mistakes and correcting them, they make excuses for them.

I have tattoos and piercings and have never had a problem getting a job... but, tattoos are in places not visible in work attire, and my piercings are discreet. I don't expect a workplace to conform to my image, either. If it were required, I would not hesitate to stop wearing my piercings, but so far it has never been a problem. Quite frankly, I do not know why people care but whatever knocks your socks off.

In this case, that is a pretty obnoxious tattoo that would be impossible to have covered entirely at work. What did that person expect?
