Family pit bull attacks, kills 6-year-old boy

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a pit bull has attacked and killed a 6-year-old boy in Pennsylvania.
The Blair County coroner says the child died of blunt-force trauma from the dog attack that occurred just before 6 p.m. Thursday in Lakemont.
Family friend Rick Vaughan, tells The Altoona Mirror the boy’s father heard the mother screaming and found the dog on top of the boy. The father pulled the dog away, but the child succumbed to his injuries.

Obviously once a dog attacks kills a child, that dog can never be trusted again.

I'm a dog lover and I have seen many Pit Bulls which seem to be gentle and loving dogs, but I would never trust one. Ever. It's just not prudent. There are other breeds of dogs which shouldn't be trusted.

One of my best friends has a Pit Bull. She's a really great dog most of the time. Once I was at my friend's house and the dog approached me and stuck her head under my hand to make me pet her. Ten minutes later with no provocation at all, she walked up to me, did the same thing then bit me.

We need to ban the breed. Bulldogs are responsible for most fatal dog attacks on humans . They may or may not bite more often than other breeds but the real problem is that once they start they often don't stop and that is in their DNA
