They started to develop the SR-71 in 1958. It only took 4 years to get one flying. Pretty advanced design with very advanced materials for its time. More than likely though it was just the best of the best in times of great potential danger. Being threatened brings out mans best efforts.

Regarding the distances traveled, they could use worm holes or have some other way to "jump" through vast parts of space. They certainly are not relying on chemical rockets or nuclear engines.
Anything that appears to violate basic physics is suspect.

Yes. Conflict and war brings about great changes as people are motivated to win/live.

Do worm holes violate physics? Albert Einstein did not think so.

A wormhole is passage which could help in covering long theoretical distances across the universe. Wormholes are predicted by the theory of general relativity. But be wary: wormholes bring with them the dangers of sudden collapse, high radiation and dangerous contact with exotic matter. In 1935 physicists Albert Einstein and Nathan Rosen with the assistance of theory of general relativity, proposed that bridges actually exist through spacetime.

I refer to comments describing an object passing through the atmosphere while leaving no signatures.

That would be cloaking technology. The Brits have made a rudimentary form of it for their tanks. Since the Brits aren't fighting wars, we aren't sure if it works in the real world.

Nope. An object passing through an atmosphere will leave infrared and acoustic signatures. If it does not then the object does not exist.

Advanced beings might have mastered quantum physics and things we haven't even dreamed of yet and applied it to their technology. Well educated men 100 years ago said that trains could never travel at high speeds and anything heavier than air could never get off the ground. Those educated men said a lot of things that look foolish now.
