Post Motorcycle on driveway can't be searched without a warrant, Supreme Court rules

Good for the Court. Forcing the police to obtain a warrant is necessary except in those exigent circumstances where they cannot. The Court rejected the automobile exception to the warrant requirement because the officer had intruded on the home’s curtilage—an area adjacent to the home where the activity of home life extends.

Excellent decision. Your rights, my rights, their rights.

I'm glad it was an 8-1 decision. I'm glad that SCOTUS is bullish on personal privacy rights.

We never went on someones property and searched a vehicle without recieving permission. We would ask mind if we check out your vehicle. We also used the request to try and determine if they were trying to hide something from us. Was rare to to get a warrant

I guess Alito doesn't understand personal privacy.
“Conscientiously believing that the proper condition of the negro is slavery, or a complete subjection to the white man, and entertaining the belief that the day is not distant when the old Union will be restored with slavery nationally declared to be the proper condition of all of African descent, and in view of the future harmony and progress of all the States of America, I have been induced to issue this address, so that there may be no misunderstanding in the future”

I was surprised by this as well. I'm encouraged by the 8-1, but would've preferred to see 9-0. I feel we can't budge on constitutional rights at all. Yours, mine, ours.

I have never been arrested, never even had a speeding ticket but would not give up my rights. No you can't search my car even though I know there is nothing in it. There is nothing suspicious about maintaining your rights.

Just for clarification what right is being protected?
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

I pledge allegiance to the Constitution as written and understood by this nation's founders, and to the Republic it created, an indivisible union of sovereign States, with liberty and justice for all.
