    What is religious? Being an outspoken member of a faith and active in a church?

    However, you are right in that one who believes in God, can not be an atheist. They may be an agnostic or even a deist, but certainly not an atheist.

    If they believe in god and call themselves atheists, they don't understand the term.

    An atheist is someone who lacks belief in God. You can't be an atheist and believe in a deity.

    They can call themselves whatever they wish, but it doesn't mean it's true.
