Correct. They sponsored anti Trump rally's after the election. They don't care who our president is. They want the US to mired in political chaos.

I was hoping that conspiracy theories would be turned into facts if they were proven correct. But that is not enough. Look at the pentagon after 911. A jumbo jet smacks into the outside of it. It leaves a hole penetrating into the inner structure that a plane simply could never fit through. There was zero plane debris. This defies not only physics, but any rational thinking. Yet it is still a conspiracy theory that something other than a plane crashed into the pentagon. I don't know what happened, but I know it wasn't a jumbo jet.
Sometimes conspiracy theories are so far off the mark that it makes you cringe and wonder what happened to the American education system. Sometimes they sound outrageous and turn out to be at least patrially true. Sometimes the theory doesn't even begin to envelop the entirety of insanity and harm of the true conspiracy.

If we interpret the term as a simple aggregation of its component parts (conspiracy and theory), then it simply means a possible explanation of an event or series of events that involves a secret agreement or plan between two or more individuals. But that could apply to almost every single story where uncertainty about the facts exist.

For example, if I claimed that the Bush administration had an ulterior motive for starting the war in Iraq, that would technically qualify as a "conspiracy theory". Specifically, it is a possible explanation for an event that involves a secret agreement or plan between two or more individuals. Yet many people find this "conspiracy theory" highly plausible and reasonable. What are we to make of this?

As another example, if I claimed that Donald Trump colluded with the Russian government in order to win the US Presidential election, that would also qualify as a conspiracy theory. Yet stories relating to this alleged "collusion" between Trump and the Russians have been making regular appearances in the Latest Happenings forum for about a year now. Apparently, some conspiracy theories are more equal than others.

So what, exactly, is meant when someone uses the term "conspiracy theory"? And what specific criteria would result in a thread being sent to the "conspiracy theory" subforum?

It's typically meant has just another way to dismiss anything besides the hogwash to dimisser was raised on. Certainly some things labels "conspiracy theory" are out there and don't seem to make any sense at all. So then why not dismiss such theories on their lack of merits?
If we had enough money we could line up educated experts today with opposing views . One for example swearing that the JFK magic bullet's behavior was consistent with reality and charts and graphs to demonstrate that point the other with a whole Power Point to demonstrate that one bullet could not possibly do that.
The more science we develop and the more money we pay for opinions the more we have to trust common sense and our gut.
Me? I think the Cubans or Cuban exiles killed JFK

It was LBJ, the CIA, and the Pentagon. Cuban exiles definitely played a part. JFK fired Allen Dulles, a CIA sacred cow, because Dulles tried to trick JFK into invading Cuba. The Joint-Chiefs of Staff came to JFK with Operation Northwoods, a false-flag terrorist attack against Americans that they would blame on Cuba - JFK was horrified and rejected it. JFK was drafting executive policies to reverse our increasing military commitment to Vietnam. JFK gave a speech effectively saying the Cold War needed to end. Basically, JFK was planning to fundamentally reform the "military-industrial complex" that Eisenhower warned Americans about, so a cabal from within the bowels of the MIC had him killed. And then they killed MLK Jr. and RFK, and probably some others like Malcolm X and Thomas Merton. But most Americans are too horrified by the thought, so they simply reject it and find some other more soothing explanation. That's usually how the big lie works. It's too awful to believe.

This one was certainly somewhat fun:

Turns out, the "conspiracy theorists" were right, and all the "serious people" were either lying or parroting lies. In fact, history is replete with examples of conventional wisdom being proven wrong. I'm sure some people, had they been alive during the American revolution, would have accused the founders of being "conspiracy theorists" for their objections to the institution of monarchy and aristocracy.
The people who can really hurt us by conspiring together are smart enough (usually) to put us on the defensive by calling us "conspiracy nuts." A good example for a conspiracy is laid out very well in Abraham Lincoln's A House Divided speech.

We can not absolutely know that all these exact adaptations are the result of preconcert. But when we see a lot of framed timbers, different portions of which we know have been gotten out at different times and places and by different workmen -- Stephen, Franklin, Roger, and James, for instance -- and when we see these timbers joined together, and see they exactly make the frame of a house or a mill, all the tenons and mortices exactly fitting, and all the lengths and proportions of the different pieces exactly adapted to their respective places, and not a piece too many or too few -- not omitting even scaffolding -- or, if a single piece be lacking, we can see the place in the frame exactly fitted and prepared to yet bring such piece in -- in such a case, we find it impossible not to believe that Stephen and Franklin and Roger and James all understood one another from the beginning, and all worked upon a common plan or draft drawn up before the first lick was struck. Read the telling book; Double Cross. It exposes Sam Giancana and the Mobs motives in whacking JFK.And Bobby! It also tells who killed Marilyn Monroe, and the attempt to frame Bobby. The Mob hated the Kennedys, because they were jailing all the important mobsters, and Sam was the key
