I understand Celtus and Peter, but had Evie McMahon's father defended his child with lethal force, he would be called a monster.

Despite the stats there are far more people who do not engage in violent behavior than those who do. Verbal abuse is another story. Often it is just a matter of upbringing and respect, which knows no economic distinctions. Dysfunctional families have a higher number of dysfunctional children. Patterns of behavior are emulated and controlling parents often end up with controlling children. Oft divorced parents generally have commitment phobic children. Children who witness violence in the home tend to repeat it and children who listen to parents who scream at each other and at the children often grow up to do the same. Monkey see, monkey do.

No jury would convict a father defending his infant against someone doing that.

    No Grand Jury would indict.

Only an idiot prosecutor would even consider bringing charges.

This guy was so psycho he once held us hostage and was cutting himself up and tore the phone jack out of the wall. Me and my sister were just huddling together in fear. He was threatening to hurt us. My sister was pregnant and he went to punch her so I jumped in front of the blow and I went flying across the room. We were so young and didn't know what to do or how to defend ourselves. Had I been older that shi# wouldn't fly!

Anyways the reason I share this is that unless you are there and knew what happened you cannot know how bad it was. There may have been more to it than just beating the cat. I am sure there would have been a history of abuse. But we dont really know and without the whole story it is hard to judge. When you are in a situation with someone gone ballistic anything can happen. Some people get so psycho maybe the only way to stop them would be what happened in this case.
Thank you for sharing. All cases of Self-Defense must be acquitted.

I had a very difficult life due to my disability, but I was never abused.

We are all brothers and sisters in humanity. We are all made from the same dust of stars. We cannot be separated because all life is interconnected.

Well not all maybe a case by case basis. All cases are different you never know when a person is just claiming self defense but is actually a killer. We have court and jury its not fail proof but it's better than nothing.

I only shared the story because I found it relevant, to understanding the behavior of some one gone psycho. There can be more to the story. But we don't know. Anything goes in this crazy world.

Definitely, only courts and juries can decide guilt or innocence in each case.
