This most recent sentence is an improvement. Bravo! I wonder if you can correctly punctuate a sentence twice in a row?

Basically. Earth has more of everything else, even at one time REM, but we have been exhausting our supply of those rare items. There may be more in the ocean, but oceans are more sensitive biospheres than the land and really probably more difficult to work than asteroids in space. I suppose that they could manage to build massive bubbles on the ocean floor and mine inside of them, but I expect that space is a more likely destination, since those REMs are likely to be highly concentrated in the remains of supernovas and there is likely to be plenty of that sort of debris floating around in space.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

Mega corporations are planning on mining asteroids. No they are not going to travel to the asteroids and mine them there. They are going to drag them close to earth. https://www.news.com.au/technology/s...2f1540cba84c0f This is one of the most absurd things I have ever heard of. We monitor asteroids in hopes that one does not come into our orbit and threaten our earth. But we are going to bring them in. This could potentially be disastrous. Not to mention what if one crashes into our earth. If we move things in space we can cause chain reactions. We can cause other more larger asteroids to change course and be attracted to earth.
Sometimes if we have a great idea we should thoroughly think it through completely before venturing.

I have had many ideas, and if I see one with harm I will keep it to myself, or remove it from the drawing board. If that were not enough, if we mine countless asteroids then we will add to the mass of the earth in a faster than natural way. If the Japan earthquake caused a slowing of the rotation what could the repercussions be for adding mass to the earth? There is a lot to consider.…….. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/as...rth-2013-01-08 ……… https://www.wired.com/2011/10/asteroid-moving/

Here is another way that we could turn our earth into a mars like planet. We have got plans to mine the moon https://www.seeker.com/space/explora...-its-not-alone So does that sound harmless? Here is what I mean by we should look deeply at our ideas before we act consider all the possible consequences.

The moon is the heart beat of the earth. The earth is the way it is because of the moon. The moon orbits the earth and it tugs on the earth as it goes around it squeezes it, that is the reason why we have the tides, the gravitational pull is so strong it lifts the oceans. It is like a heart. It keeps the mantle dynamic and keeps our earth active it controls our weather and tides. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_does_t...effect_weather

If you deeply look you can see how this makes all like possible on earth. If we do mine the moon we will take that part of the equation out. We will remove yet another one of our conditions for life. The mass of the moon will change, and it is possible the moon will move away from the earth faster than it already is. https://www.universetoday.com/112450...on-leaving-us/

So there is a lot to consider when we decide to use up resources just because we can. What harm will come to living beings of today and of the future? It is something we should take seriously.

Also , precious metals are expensive because of scarcity . Only the first wave of super rich will benefit before they dump the market.
What's the old internet meme? "Earth first. We'll $#@! up the other planets later" ?

The mining of wealth just to receive austerity measures! Mars was destroyed, it is claimed, because of some type of nuclear interaction. Earth is being destroyed so that the rich and powerful can have more dollars for luxuries and banking. The people say they want alternative medicines. The government has infringed for how long? The Bureau of Land Management rounds up wild horses based upon false pretenses for adoption/slaughters. They are worth so much more than precious metals!

Thousands have been sent off to be killed to make use of public lands so America can pay more taxes. The Trump Administration is now responsible for this same blood on the lands. Wild horses, and what creatures are deemed to be in the way, are being destroyed relentlessly for dollars, as they are rounded up to be put in "kill shelters", and so where is the President and Congress? How is it that the 'American' administrations can expect blessings? Christ rides on a white horse, and so who has lost their rights?

It should be a matter of need. But the governments will pay half the cost and the megacorps will take all the profits until the over flooded market collapses. A sort if a solar system version of the ME
