How Mining the Moon and Asteroids could destroy civilization as we know it.

There are those in the world who have big plans for the near future. It is all about money like it always is. They have their eyes set on mining the moon, and not only that, they have designs to mine asteroids and drag them near the earth in order to have easy access to them.

Mega corporations are planning on mining asteroids. No they are not going to travel to the asteroids and mine them there. They are going to drag them close to earth. https://www.news.com.au/technology/s...2f1540cba84c0f This is one of the most absurd things I have ever heard of. We monitor asteroids in hopes that one does not come into our orbit and threaten our earth. But we are going to bring them in. This could potentially be disastrous. Not to mention what if one crashes into our earth. If we move things in space we can cause chain reactions. We can cause other more larger asteroids to change course and be attracted to earth.
Sometimes if we have a great idea we should thoroughly think it through completely before venturing.

I have had many ideas, and if I see one with harm I will keep it to myself, or remove it from the drawing board. If that were not enough, if we mine countless asteroids then we will add to the mass of the earth in a faster than natural way. If the Japan earthquake caused a slowing of the rotation what could the repercussions be for adding mass to the earth? There is a lot to consider.…….. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/as...rth-2013-01-08 ……… https://www.wired.com/2011/10/asteroid-moving/

Here is another way that we could turn our earth into a mars like planet. We have got plans to mine the moon https://www.seeker.com/space/explora...-its-not-alone So does that sound harmless? Here is what I mean by we should look deeply at our ideas before we act consider all the possible consequences.

The moon is the heart beat of the earth. The earth is the way it is because of the moon. The moon orbits the earth and it tugs on the earth as it goes around it squeezes it, that is the reason why we have the tides, the gravitational pull is so strong it lifts the oceans. It is like a heart. It keeps the mantle dynamic and keeps our earth active it controls our weather and tides. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_does_t...effect_weather

If you deeply look you can see how this makes all like possible on earth. If we do mine the moon we will take that part of the equation out. We will remove yet another one of our conditions for life. The mass of the moon will change, and it is possible the moon will move away from the earth faster than it already is. https://www.universetoday.com/112450...on-leaving-us/

So there is a lot to consider when we decide to use up resources just because we can. What harm will come to living beings of today and of the future? It is something we should take seriously.

We are all brothers and sisters in humanity. We are all made from the same dust of stars. We cannot be separated because all life is interconnected.

    I admire your enthusiasm.
Call your state legislators and insist they approve the Article V convention of States to propose amendments.

We could tap all the geothermal energy stored in the earths mantle, which is an incredible amount of hot water
    & gas.

But we already know that deep drilling can cause big earthquakes!

    Russia has done a huge amount of environmental damage;
The Aral Sea has almost dried up
They make rivers run backwards that used to got to the arctic ocean
    Just to mention a few.

Deep water ocean mining could fetch trillions in gold and precious minerals, but that could disrupt the sea bed and all life . Just because we can, doesn't mean we should!

This is just one of the many plans that will ultimately destroy civilization as we know it. Focusing on this problem is not going to stop the major extinction event that is currently into play for our near future.

If we could "drag" an asteroid close to earth we could also divert one from hitting us. Win win.

I'm 73 years old. My civilization will be destroyed far sooner than mining the moon.

Not enough to worry about now I guess so we need to worry about events 200 years into the future.

Don't be so sure NathanB check this out https://www.engadget.com/2017/07/12/...n-robots-2020/ There is also a link in the Op that says this "
The first-ever private mining operation on the moon is scheduled to kick off in 2020, when a landing craft sent by Florida-based Moon Express will ferry a single scoop of lunar dirt and rocks back to Earth. "
