I don't have a problem with mining on the moon.
I tend to agree, but it's worth thinking hard about the potential ramifications.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God service when it is violating all His laws.

Of course. But it would take centuries or longer to drastically affect the core of the Moon.

The atmosphere is of course limitless and puny human activity could never do any harm by changing it's chemical composition, right? We have to stop burning $#@! to produce energy. Anyone who's ever been on a sun porch on a sunny day knows part of the answer. Transportation of energy causes megacorp profits, dependence and a huge loss of energy.

Mega corporations are planning on mining asteroids. No they are not going to travel to the asteroids and mine them there. They are going to drag them close to earth. https://www.news.com.au/technology/s...2f1540cba84c0f This is one of the most absurd things I have ever heard of. We monitor asteroids in hopes that one does not come into our orbit and threaten our earth. But we are going to bring them in. This could potentially be disastrous. Not to mention what if one crashes into our earth. If we move things in space we can cause chain reactions. We can cause other more larger asteroids to change course and be attracted to earth.
Sometimes if we have a great idea we should thoroughly think it through completely before venturing.

I have had many ideas, and if I see one with harm I will keep it to myself, or remove it from the drawing board. If that were not enough, if we mine countless asteroids then we will add to the mass of the earth in a faster than natural way. If the Japan earthquake caused a slowing of the rotation what could the repercussions be for adding mass to the earth? There is a lot to consider.…….. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/as...rth-2013-01-08 ……… https://www.wired.com/2011/10/asteroid-moving/

Here is another way that we could turn our earth into a mars like planet. We have got plans to mine the moon https://www.seeker.com/space/explora...-its-not-alone So does that sound harmless? Here is what I mean by we should look deeply at our ideas before we act consider all the possible consequences.

The moon is the heart beat of the earth. The earth is the way it is because of the moon. The moon orbits the earth and it tugs on the earth as it goes around it squeezes it, that is the reason why we have the tides, the gravitational pull is so strong it lifts the oceans. It is like a heart. It keeps the mantle dynamic and keeps our earth active it controls our weather and tides. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_does_t...effect_weather

If you deeply look you can see how this makes all like possible on earth. If we do mine the moon we will take that part of the equation out. We will remove yet another one of our conditions for life. The mass of the moon will change, and it is possible the moon will move away from the earth faster than it already is. https://www.universetoday.com/112450...on-leaving-us/

So there is a lot to consider when we decide to use up resources just because we can. What harm will come to living beings of today and of the future? It is something we should take seriously.

Wait, Asteroid ownership is a thing? and it's legal? Good grief! What a stupid idea.

You $#@! that there's too much CO2 and then $#@! when we have a plan to take it out. You just want to $#@!.

It usually doesn't end well and the OP is right we would literally be adding to the mass of the earth and we have no idea what effects that could cause.
Mining the other bodies in the solar system is just another cop out to developing sustainable lifestyles and only a delay. Trying to change the orbits of asteroids is a very bad idea.
Adding to the mass of the Earth? Wow, another Einstein.

I created a sustainable lifestyle. Have you?
