    Education Topics

I not too infrequently post topics on education. Each time I wonder where they should be posted. Science? History? Politics? There seems to be no clear place.

I wonder if we might not add "Education" as a forum area or to an existing area. Perhaps the Forum Advisors could advise on this? Or the Mod team?

    Good question, Chris.

I'd be good with just adding it to an existing forum area. We probably have too many already. But, whatever.

Would be an area to post not just topic in education per se but also all the diversity and free speech stuff happening at universities today.

I've wondered the same thing but with Betsey DeVos and our doofus president, America has given up on education and now turns to Fox and right wing media for world history, opinion, and all that has happened since with the exclusion of science and anything some silly Americans think happened longer than six thousand years ago. But that said I have posted an excellent OP from Irritus U that covers education for America's special people. See links:

Now serious, a combined section on education and books of all sorts could be interesting.

"And what is the origin of the statistic that claims 32 million adults in the U.S. are functionally illiterate? It’s based on the National Assessment of Adult Literacy—conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics in 2003—in which a demographically representative population of 19,000 adults were interviewed. According to the findings of the survey, 14% (1 in 7) of adults fell into the category of “Below Basic” in “Prose Literacy,” meaning that they possess “no more than the most simple and concrete literacy skills.” Those who fall into this category are deemed “functionally illiterate.”" http://www.intellectualtakeout.org/b...does-even-mean
