Northern california would be democrat, only southern cali would go republican, the democrats are doing this because they will pick up more seats in congress thats what this is all about. Thats why the GOP is against it, it being reversed the democrats would be against it also.

If this happens, someone will be having to support Los Angeles

Actually the eastern side of the state North to South is quite red.

The California coastal area north to south is solidly liberal / Democrat. Lines could be drawn or redrawn to get any outcome you want.
