ICE arrests more than 100 workers in raid on Ohio meat supplier

    https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/19/us/ic...ark/index.html
(CNN)Federal immigration officials on Tuesday raided a large meat supplier based in Massillon, Ohio, and arrested more than 100 workers suspected of using stolen or fraudulent identification to gain employment.
As many as 100 agents from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, US Customs and Border Protection and the US Border Patrol descended upon four facilities operated by Fresh Mark during the late afternoon raid. Authorities said they made 146 arrests during the raid, which ICE said makes it the largest worksite raid nationally in at least a decade. The raid -- which was conducted with no prior notice to the business -- was the largest workplace enforcement action to take place under the Trump Administration, said Steve Francis, special agent in charge of ICE'sHomeland Security Investigations unit, which oversees Michigan and Ohio. Officials arrived with criminal and federal search warrants to collect documents on more than 200 employees. The warrants were served at Fresh Mark's facilities in Salem, Massillon and Canton, Ohio.

Second big raid in under a month in Ohio, I hope they keep it up. Deport these people and fine the employers.....
One of the best parts of the article " Civil penalties for businesses that knowingly hire undocumented immigrants can range from $548 to $21,916 per violation. Repeat offenders and companies hiring a larger number of unauthorized workers receive fines that are on the higher end of the range. Criminal penalties for employing undocumented workers can result in hefty fines and possibly jail time.ICE's worksite enforcement actions resulted in $97.6 million in fines and forfeitures last year, up from $2 million in 2016."
While most of that was from one fine, turn up the heat hold these people accountable, that is how you cut back on illegal immigrants, take away the jobs.

Now, let's think about this. Massillon, Ohio is about 25 miles down the road. Rust belt. Old Steel town, still reeling from the devastation of the demise of the steel industry. So...., there's no American born workers (regardless of color? If the burger, lettuce etc should cost more, so be it. Follow the law.

I believe that migrant workers do most of the work concerning picking fruit and veggies. These are not the same people. (still working on that opinion)

Arresting the employer with prison time would definitely allow our immigration laws to change for the better for all of us.

Arresting the employers is as important as removing the illegals.

    They just busted another 100
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — More than 100 workers were arrested at an Ohio meatpacking plant by federal agents following a yearlong immigration investigation, the second large-scale raid within the state in the past two weeks.
The investigation focused on whether the company knowingly hired people who are in the country illegally and used fake identities belonging to U.S. citizens to get their jobs, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials said.
