34-year-old John Vasquez has been sentenced to life in prison after he burned his girlfriend to death in front of two of her sons.
The victim, Archuleta-Blasier, suffered severe burns on over 60% of her body, dying about a month after the crime. Her 6-year-old son also suffered burns as he tried to put out the fire that had spread all along her body. He has since recovered.
Vasquez reportedly doused his girlfriend in gasoline and then set her ablaze. As she burned and her son tried frantically to save her, he also began to laugh, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
