NJ Governor Proposes 2,400 Percent Tax Increase On Firearms

NJ Governor Proposes 2,400 Percent Tax Increase On Firearms
    Molly Prince

Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy is proposing legislation that would drastically increase the fees on firearms in New Jersey, hiking the cost to buy and sell guns by up to 2,400 percent.
The proposal includes various steep tax increases such as raising the cost of handgun permits, required to purchase a firearm in New Jersey, from $2 to $50, reports Guns.com.
Other changes include increasing identification card fees 1,900 percent to $100, dealer licenses 900 percent to $500 and manufacturer licenses 900 percent to $1,500.
Fees on carry permits, which are already known for being difficult to acquire in New Jersey, are expected to increase an additional 700 percent to $400. Across the state line in Pennsylvania, carry permits are only $20.
The governor has not formally introduced the proposal to the New Jersey legislature but is expected do so as part of the budget ahead of its June 30 deadline, according to NJ.com.
The first-term governor has already signed six anti-gun measures into law in early June. During the signing, he vowed to be “a leader in the fight for common-sense gun safety.”

Well, there it is folks, common sense gun control is actually denying you Rights by taxing them to death. Since when did we have to pay the fricking government to keep our Rights? I wonder if he also extended that courtesy to Free Speech by increasing the cost of public venues about Free Speech against gun owners.
Gun control is NO Guns. that is the message they really want you to hear.
I feel sad for those lawful owners, but it is their fault for putting this a55wipe in office.
I'm waiting for door to door search and seizure...........then there goes their 4th A Rights as well.
And some call Trump, Hitler. this is exactly what Hitler and Stalin did in the early days of their gun control plan.

I don't know the constitutionality of this action. To tax it to the point of making it an effective ban would seem to me to be a violation of the 2nd Amendment. Thoughts?

    I like the idea.

2400% tax increase on the gun itself.

And a 2400% decrease on the price of ammo.

Sounds fair. Where do I sign?

as Hitler and Uncle Joe had done, only the elite will have guns. They don't want to be defenseless when the peasants revolt...........

Does he actually think that by raising the cost will reduce criminal activity?

What's wrong with a little pie in the sky, unicorn and sparkles common sense gun control?

Speaking of gun control, I am heading to the range in about an hour. My aim has been a little off lately.

The gun-grabbers pawed at their pearls this week over a new study released by the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva that claims Americans, who only make up 4 percent of the world’s population, own 40 percent of the world’s guns. Geez guys, you say that like it’s a bad thing.

Maybe it’s time for me to pull the trigger on a new purchase. Just trying to do my part.

Would that apply to the guns used by the men and women who protect the Gov? Or would those be "tax free sales". The politician/celebrity control freak crowd are such huge phonies . What they are really saying is that a poor person can't be protected by guns while they can. Much like a poor man can't pay for sex but a rich man can pay tens of thousands to keep a mistress for that purpose. A poor person can only get high in a narrow band of choices but a rich one can have a private doc write whatever scripts they wish or a high priced lawyer to free them from illegal drug charges.
No two class society unfairness here. LOL
