A Virginia state delegate for the town where Sarah Huckabee Sanders was refused service Friday night criticized the restaurant owner with the ultimate Trump-country insult — she has ties to Hollywood.

Del. Ben Cline, a Republican who also is running for the U.S. House this November, dropped the “Meryl bomb” Saturday in a tweet apologizing to Mrs. Sanders, the chief White House spokeswoman.

“On behalf of my hometown of Lexington, I want to apologize for the rudeness of one liberal New York transplant (who also happens to be Meryl Streep’s cousin),” he wrote of restaurateur Stephanie Wilkinson, who since Friday night has doubled down and said she would kick Mrs. Sanders out again.


“We hope you will come back and enjoy our area’s true southern hospitality,” he concluded.

This is within the restaurant owner's right. I think it was actually handled well by the owner - she asked Mrs. Sanders to step outside and spoke to her in private. Mrs. Sanders handled it well on site and without incident left. You can refuse service to anyone for any reason or no reason, just not an illegal reason - I believe. How can you support the cake baker's right and not support the restauranteur's right?

I support her right to ask her to leave, I supported the bakers right not to bake a cake. The difference here will be instead of media outrage that gays were denied a cake, the restauratuer will be made a media hero and there will no case taken to the supreme court.
