Rhode Island bill would keep Trump off 2020 ballot unless he releases his tax returns

A new bill requiring the release of tax returns in order to be on the ballot in Rhode Island has been in the State Senate.

Rhode Island's state Senate passed a bill this week that would keep candidates off the presidential ballot in their state if they don't release five years' worth of tax returns, according to the Providence Journal.
Sen. Gayle Goldin (D), who sponsored the bill, noted that every presidential candidate since Richard Nixon released their tax returns voluntarily until President Trump ran for office.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that he cannot release his tax returns because he is under audit, but the IRS said an audit does not prevent a candidate from releasing their personal tax information.

A state cannot add to Constitutional requirements. SCOTUS will toss this.

It's the reason we have to amend the Constitution to have term limits for Congress.

It isn't a requirement, to release tax returns....but, with all of the Trump hate being displayed....who knows.

When Harry Reid threatened to use the Nuclear Option, he was told actions have consequences and if he used the nuke that no one before him used it would come back to bite him on the ass. Well we know thats already happened in return.

I cant imagine intelligent people on the left not realizing that what they are doing and have been for the last year and half isnt just going to be forgotten. I also believe all intelligent people like gamewell45 who I respect completely understand that it was the left who has started all this intense hatred and the violence that has come out of it. They own this horrifically divided environment were living in and if it doesnt cool soon its going to get much worse.

I think you misunderstand. I call conservatives fake because the majority of them and the Republican party assert small government while pushing big government policy that is a direct contradiction to said ideological assertions. The left, as contemptible as they are for the most part, is more or less honest with what they do and true to their alleged agenda and ideology.
