Did other nations slapping tariffs on our goods go it alone? I just don't get you, Rip. Trump is seen by you as starting a 'trade war' by just putting tariffs on products imported that those nations put on us. If tariffs are trade wars, then it's been one sided. Trump aims to make it two sided and you think we should go talk to others about it. Your concern is for this country. Correct?

Yes, my concern is for this country. I'm just not sure bilateral trade negotiations only is the best way to go about things. By the way, I simply cited trade war parenthetically meaning that's not necessarily how I would define it. I would take exception too with the idea that its always been one sided. Canadian softwood lumber comes to mind as one example. The whole tariff milieu is a labyrinth that doesn't make a whole lot of sense in many respects. I may be wrong about questioning Trumps approach. Only time will reveal that to be the case or not.
