Google has promised to halt its practice of computer scans of peoples' Gmail inboxes. Well, surprise, surpirse. To keep that promise, it has outsourced the controversial activity to its software developers, and Google says they allow it only if the email account owners grant permission.
It's the same type of activity FB allowed a few months back that resulted in Cambridge Analytica gathering and selling vast quantities of user data to who-knows-whom.
