You should try and get one again. I am sure by this time they have forgotten all about that message you left in the men's room about Ma Bell having seen more d*** than a urinal at Yankee stadium.

Oh wait, maybe that wasn't you.

Fla the land of the scam on old people, the latest I get is calls saying they represent florida sheriffs deputies or florida firefighters, theres no such organizations.

I asked the guy hawking for sheriffs deputies if he was a current working law enforcement officer. He said I retired 3 yrs ago and I cant keep away from it so I help out this way.

I said Ill tell ya what you give me my miranda rights and Ill send you a 1,000 he hung up.
We get calls from Africans about our social security. We must give them our SS number and the acct its deposited in immediately for them to verify its validity or they will stop payments.

All kinds of wild $#@!, when im in the mood I torture them I listen ask a ton of questions then tell them to GF themselves and block their number

Whenever my phone shows that the call is from another town or city--and I have no friends or relatives there--I simply answer the phone as follows:

"Gooooooood morning! This is Phillip Johnston, and yoooooooou're on the air!"

It has worked very well the two times that I have tried it so far. I was met with stunned silence both times.

(Obviously, this will not work with robocalls.)
That is, when I feel in a rather charitable mood, I hang up after a few seconds of silence.

If I feel a bit ornery, I will prolong the telemarketer's misery a bit:

"Now, now, now. Please don't be bashful. Speak up! (Today's topic--as you are surely aware--is whether Whirlpool should have ever started making riding lawn mowers.)

    "What is your opinion?"

Then, after a few more seconds of silence, I will say:

"Well, this caller is just too bashful. Let's go to anther line..."

    And then hang up.

There is now a bill before one chamber of Congress--I forget whether it is the House or the Senate--which would actually criminalize the matter, and send those to prison who sponsor telemarketing schemes (even if they are not scams--just annoyances).

The theory is that fines have obviously not worked; these people consider fines just the cost of doing business.

I very much like this idea--although I will have to admit that it could run into this snag: so many of the calls originate from overseas. (In those cases, perhaps we could put pressure upon the governments in question: if they do not cooperate, we will cease all trade with them.)

    Thoughts?

I'm on a, do not contact, list.... I still get those annoying calls, when I threaten to report them, they hang up on me.

They call, using different numbers, with different area codes, to throw people off.

So far, I've learned I've stayed at one of their resorts...news to me....my vehicle warranty is about to expire and, I now qualify for a back or knee brace....and, they're basing it on MY inquiry... again, news to me.

It should be legal to hunt them down and kill them. Perhaps they would then understand that we hate them.

I, too, am on the Do Not Call List; but--as with your case--it does no more good than, say, a bowling ball made entirely out of cellophane...
