This Fourth of July, as Americans celebrated our nation’s Declaration of Independence, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) issued its own Declaration of Dependence. Yes, the socialism that linked the historically murderous regimes of Hitler’s Nazis, Stalin’s Bolsheviks, and Mao’s Red Guards is now the economic policy guiding the elite of the party of Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and John F. Kennedy. Socialism is now the Democrat Party's future. Somewhere, Henry Wallace is looking up and smiling.

There is never any mention of either “liberty” or “freedom.” Why? Because the DNC thinks individual liberty is the reason for America’s societal ills. (Newsflash: the Left calls you “deplorable” for a reason.) It’s why the DNC is enthralled with the oppressive administrative state which is designed to make decisions for you since you can’t be trusted to do so.

It was the head of the DNC that said this was the "future" of your party. These murderous thug regimes were all socialist regimes that started out with the people believing they were good. I think it's shameful the way that the D's have embraced the concept of socialism. I was raised to believe in individual liberty and freedom. Your party has gone full bore in on socialism, which if successful will end this country as we grew up in. Maybe not but they grow government and trample state's rights just as fast so if nothing else they are help setting the stage. I think is the answer is some compassion from the social cons for state run programs. I'm no socialist but I do think some folks need help. Offer to help them through effective, monitored state run programs and the foothold for socialism goes away. But the "let them eat cake" attitude is what gives socialism it's perch

Depends on how you define socialism. If you define it as Hayek and many other economists do, as central planning, then the R's, while saying they're against, in action very much support it. As O'Rourke put it: "The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it."
