I believe it was something like a school trip, exploring the caves. Unfortunately, they suddenly flooded. The caves can flood severely during the rainy season, which runs from June to October, and there are warnings against exploring then.

It's ok if you disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

I read it was a "ritual" that these local teams did after a win - run in, go as deep as you can and then sign your name. I really thought that they'd never get them out. I'm thrilled for their families, Thailand, the rescuers and the family of the deceased rescuer. Well done by all.

I am very happy those boys are now all safe. Now that coach has some 'splainin' to do.

Kids, you've been great, you owe this to yourselves and to many who risked everything, live a life of virtue and earn their efforts.

One of the things I thought was remarkable about this was every time you saw pictures of these boys, they were smiling and mugging for the cameras. They certainly kept their spirits high.

They had a couple of US Air Force SoF types there (at least). A MAJ and NCO were interviewed on CNN this morning. The MAJ was in the command center, and the NCO was in the caves at one of the check points.
