Why not cut them by 3/4's or even 99 percent.

There are many alternatives to high tuition colleges. There are community colleges for example who's fees are far less than a state university. Secondly, not everyone is college material. Perhaps many students would fare better in a technical school. Finally, as someone else pointed out the student could work his/her way through college and not go into hundreds of thousand of dollars into debt they never intend to repay.

Why is the University of Chicago paying Bill Ayers a salary? Fire him and create a scholarship equal to that of his yearly salary. That would help some underprivileged kids receive an education.
