    Desparate men do desparate things!

Trump did not destroy NATO......he merely demanded they pay their fair share. How is that destroying NATO?

On the other hand, he appears to be cozying up to Vladimir Putin more closely than I would prefer. (Perhaps the situation is analogous to that of Kim Jong Un: He may simply want to make nice with anyone who has nukes, in the hope of obviating the possibility of a nuclear war.)

As for NATO, I would suggest that most European countries, indeed, have been underpaying their fair share for close to 70 years now. Perhaps President Trump's tone was a bit too harsh; but his point, I think, was right on target.

As for Russia's potential takeover of the Baltic states--as well as Poland--it is surely Vladimir Putin's wet dream. But I quite doubt that, If Vladimir Putin were to make a move of this sort, President Trump would be nearly so milquetoast as then-President Obama was when Putin put the move on Georgia.

    Or Crimea.

    Or Ukraine...
Today on the news, Trump called Russia "competitors"

No, Mr. Trump. they are our adversaries, our enemies, and always have been!

You can't play "nicey nice with him!

Russia can't afford to absorb the Baltics and Poland into Mother Russia. It would bankrupt them if NATO just sat back and watched.

    They are, indeed, our enemy.

If only the Democrats would have discovered that many years ago...

I tend to think that you are correct here. I would really prefer that President Trump would not cozy up so closely to an autocrat--and a murderous one, at that.

But I do understand his reasoning here (as I have noted previously).

What Nikita Khrushchev uttered some 62 ago (actually, he died in 1971--and spoke these words considerably before that, even) is not really relevant.

Thanks to the policies of Ronald Reagan, it was the former Soviet Union--now Russia--that was defeated. And thoroughly.

It is only in a military sense that Russia may have rough parity with the US. In an economic sense, it is...well a basket case.

Reagan did not destroy the Soviet Union!!!! Let's get that strait, rite now!

It collapsed of its own weight, trying to support an Empire of failure!

You have been REAGANIZED, believing the false Reagan mythology!

Ronald Reagan was the greatest president of my lifetime. I stood five feet from the man on two occasions.
