After suffering a horrific massacre in the villages surrounding the Jos in Plateau state, Nigerian Christians are experiencing a "living hell," according to the watchdog group Open Doors USA


"The displaced Christians were in a pathetic situation," said Open Doors worker named Kerrie. "Life has become a living hell for them. They have lost loved ones, houses, and all they labored for in the twinkling of an eye. The agony they are going through is hard to describe."


"We saw people who were still in a haze over what they have just gone through. Children were crying hysterically, perhaps because of hunger or perhaps because of hunger and the trauma."



As June came to a close, as many as 200 Christians were slaughtered by a group of Islamic extremists called Fulani herdsmen. Open Doors, which is currently aiding the victims of these horrific crimes, estimates that as many as 3,000 Christians have been displaced.


"Christian leaders in Nigeria have said that as many as 6,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed by Muslim Fulani herdsmen since the start of the year," reports The Christian Post.




The Christian Association of Nigeria and other denominational heads have called for an end to the "genocide" that has destroyed the region.



"What is happening in Plateau state and other select states in Nigeria is pure genocide and must be stopped immediately," said the Christian Association of Nigeria.


"We are particularly worried at the widespread insecurity in the country where wanton attacks and killings by armed Fulani herdsmen, bandits and terrorists have been taking place on a daily basis in our communities unchallenged despite huge investments in the security agencies," the organization added.

Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari is being called on to resign over his failure to protect Christians from the slaughter.

Amazingly, the Nigerian government was going to declare a sort of "cease-fire" with Boko Haram, and the other two factions were in agreement, but Abubakar Shekau rejected it in favor of continuing violence. He is extremely radical and, unfortunately, has perfected the art of propaganda. Not only do Nigerians have the mentality of kill or be killed (join, or die), but Shekau sends extremist Muslim "scholars" and "experts" to villages and towns in order to teach and indoctrinate the population with Salafi Jihadism. They also hand out pamphlets and other documents. Their recruitment techniques are probably among the most sophisticated in terms of success, especially given how they largely do not utilize technology.

If there is one thing a Muslim extremist hates, it is anyone who isn't as extreme in their Islamic beliefs or those who want material or ideological aspects of Western societies. It would be safer to be a Christian in that situation because at least the Christian isn't considered a traitor to the "cause".
