Tonight's moon with Mars:
We live in Washington state on the Puget Sound near the Olympic peninsula. For the last few years we have spent a few months at our condo in Sayulita Mexico, but we did not do that this year. We might go back, but not for months at a time. Maybe a month. This year we are going there for the month of March.
My wife is interested in leaving Washington state because we are basically being taxed out. The problem uis, I can't find any place which I like better. We do have our share of rain in the winter, but for most of the year the climate is temperate and very comfortable.
We have ocean beaches, inland fiords, mountains and even desert within a short drive. No hurricanes or tornadoes. No snakes and other poisionous critters. No oppressive heat and humidity. It considered horribly cold when temps get down to freezing.
Skiing, fishing, scuba diving, mountain biking, boating. If I want steamed clams or oysters for dinner, all I have to do is wait for a low tide and go gather dinner.
I've lived in Colorado, Wisconsin, Indiana, Georgia and North Carolina. None come close. I'd be forced to give up too much living anywhere else. I do not want to sell my boat either. I would not be happy living anywhere without my boat and it can't be replaced.
Neither of us want to live in Idaho, Montana or Wyoming. Oregon and California are out of the question.
Mexico is the only place we would both like, but not permanently.
My wife keeps showing me properties out in the sticks and it's tempting, but I tell her that doesn't make sense because political / tax situation would be the same. Plus, I'd have a real hard time knowing someone else is living in the home I grew up in. It is my sanctuary. I'd have to give up the waterfront and That would be hard.

I've got a house on a couple of acres on the side of a hill located in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains in upstate NY. My wife and I love the lifestyle; the people are friendly, the crime rate is very, very low, the cost of living is much more reasonable then living in an urban or suburban area and we're on the border of New England, close to all the cultural places & museums as well. It's a lifestyle much, much more relaxed then if you live in the city or 'burbs.
The only down-side are winters which can be brutal at times and my wife in particular hates the cold and the snow; we came close to moving to SC where my son and his wife reside, however we cannot get the level of medical care needed so we will stay where we are until we find an area of the country that has the level of medical care available that we need.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.
Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

Im a cityboy born and bred, I loved the city and never had any worries about my lower end stature growing up.
Being an Angry Old man ive lived through the times when I had to just worry about myself and then got married and had to worry about My wifes well being as well as mine, then having kids and having to put their needs first.,
So I moved to the suburbs and for many years I missed city living badly. Now im an OLD ANGRY MAN and live in florida and I love it and often say man what would it have been like growing up here instead of the $#@!hole I was raised in.
The one good thing about being an Angry Old man is that you finally know what really makes you happy and unhappy.
I love where i live now
