I do not think electricity is able to set off a round in a magazine. It is the mechanical action of a firing pin in a weapon striking the primer cap embedded in the rear of the bullets case that does that. The middle cop that tazed him and then fires his weapon was what put the holes in this dude IMO.

It might if it passed through the case.

They did a good job. Gave that $#@! every opportunity to cooperate.=
@Cletus... You probably know more about firearms than any other member. What's your opinion on the supposition that a taser set off rounds in a magazine and the shooting itself?

I think your response in Post #2 was spot on. I doubt very much you get a Taser to set off a round, even if you tried.
I also think it was a righteous shoot. As Lummy said, they gave the guy every chance to resolve the situation with no one getting hurt. Based on what he said to the teller, I think it was probably an attempted suicide by cop.

If the primer of one of the rounds got the voltage in a right way, yes, it would cause it go off. After all, inside the primer, is gunpowder.
If I understand the video, the taser probes hit the magazine, causing a primer to detonate. The rounds are close together in the magazine , so if one round detonates, it would cause enough pressure to cause the surrounding primers to go off.
One in fifty chance, but it can happen. I have heard, and even read in gun magazine of handgun rounds falling on the floor, and going off.

If you had an electrical arc come in contact with a primer, I believe the round would detonate. The pressure of the handgun round detonating, would cause surround handguns to go off. Maybe the taser did cause an electrical arc on more than one primer. An electrical current going from one side of the magazine to the other, arcing the primers , causing a mass detonation.

Ever heard of all six chamber of a cap and ball revolver going off at the same time? I have. Pressure from one cylinder going off , the cylinder under the hammer, detonating the remaining five cylinders.
Inside of electrical current is amperage, or the pressure to push the electricity. I don't know how many amps is in a taser, but it would have to be substantial to push electric current through the body.
If the primers of the ammo come in contact with electricity, it would cause the bullet to detonate.
