It Doesn’t Feel Like 30 Years

I am a "plank owner" of Rush's program having been listening since his very first national show. Mr. Limbaugh does not tell me what to think, I already know what to think. He shows me how to put it into words. And he makes me aware of some issues that I did not know.

I don't agree with everything he says, I am not a liberal who would blindly follow the party line. I don't listen as often as I once did. I certainly can understand his addiction at one time to Oxycontin as I was once addicted to it after a motorcycle accident. Like Rush, I had sense enough to do something about it and was able to break that addiction, so there is no way I could ever think addiction should be a crime. Also, like Rush before I was addicted I did think it was only people of low moral character who became addicted. I now know that is not always true and many, like myself, are pushed into it by well meaning doctors and physical therapist.

In any event the left hates Mr. Limbaugh because he shows them as the frauds they are.

I have been listening when I can for many years. I listen less. Rush has started an annoying habit and I turn the radio off one he starts his guttural "uhs".

I listen to Valentine and Levin, again, when I have the time to do so.

Some hosts are raging and negative. Quite frankly, I always thought Limbaugh was upbeat and positive. It has been a very long time since I listened to his show but when I did (mid 1990s) he was pleasant. Yeah, the kook left hated him then like the hate him now but they're kooks.

To be honest, I haven't listened to Limbaugh in probably 10 or more years now about the time i strayed away from talk radio in general.

I lost interest. It was useful when I was kind of a political neophyte but I outgrew it.

I can understand that; for me it was the same thing everyday, just it was negative. I'm an upbeat person in general so I said to myself, I don't need this everyday since I like to hear positive things, so I walked away from it.

I do remember a lot of negativity and anger from a number of hosts. I used to listen to 770 out of NYC. They carried Rush but also Bob Grant, Jay Diamond, Curtis Sliwa and some other guys. The anger probably appealed to me when I was younger. I just don't remember Rush being that way. He often made me laugh out loud.

The anger probably appealed to me when I was younger. I just don't remember Rush being that way. He often made me laugh out loud.

I think that Rush has a different approach to his commentating style; many talk show hosts have a confrontational approach whereas Rush is more conversational. One reason he is a master of the craft and lasted so long.

Btw, I think Curtis Sliwa is still doing a show on WABC; I believe Bob Grant passed away a few years ago. Not sure about Jay Diamond.

I can count using the fingers of just one hand the times I vaguely remember Rush being negative. Instead Rush uses humor, parody, and the perp's own words. It is entertaining as well as informative. That is why he succeeded and continues to hold an audience of some 20 million listeners.
