You are incorrect about that a police officer NEVER has to wait until they are attacked or hurt before they react whether its animal or human. If a dog is agressive and the officer believes that dog is going to attack him he can protect himself. I LOVE dogs and would never hurt any animal except under circumstances like I described

As a general proponent of police officers, I'll will say that if anyone enters my residence and shoots my dog or dogs, I will end that person's life regardless of the uniform they are wearing.

Agree. Payback may not be immediate, but it would be sure. With the increase in police screwing up addresses to be searched, inappropriately violent responses, "swatting", etc., one of my greatest fears, quite frankly, is that police would enter my residence for some unforeseen reason and shoot my two pit mixes - one of whom would no doubt keep her distance and bark her head off, while the other ran to greet them with sniffs and licks.
