I have to say, the pic is a bit disappointing. It's not exactly what I pictured when I read Starliner. It looks like a capsule from the 60's.

Real world space travel, particularly when it's only going from the Earth to an orbiting platform, doesn't require something that looks like the Millennium Falcon, or one of those other really cool-looking vehicles from sci-fi. The near-Earth aerodynamics that make things like wings necessary don't really apply out there. I was surprised to learn, a few months ago, that the Department of Transportation, has created a Commercial Astronaut rating, which two pilots have already qualified for.



As a kid, I knew all the American astronauts' names, ranks and where they were from until there got to be too many of them, after they'd named the third group. Most of the Russians, too. I still have some of the 8x10 photos and other materials NASA sent to me when they had the budget for that kind of thing. At this point, hundreds of people have gone to space, and within twenty-five years I'd imagine it will be no more for some folks than an expensive vacation.

Isn't Space X a big scam that is losing billions of dollars. Musk is another Tech snake oil salesman. Good at getting funding but the products not so much. Just like the self driving cars we will never see in our lifetime.

SpaceX is the outfit that can land rockets on a floating drone barge in the ocean or anyplace else and then reuse the rocket motors.

He has learned like many other big companies that he can scam taxpayers by using government programs to subsidize his products like the Tesla cars and his solar panel company with the tax break plan. Of course the only people who can actually benefit by using the rebate program are people who could already afford the product. Middle class people get very little of the benefit and people lower than middle class don't get any.
