The above are all preposterous MRA arguments that collapse under even the slightest scrutiny. For example, more men than women are murdered? Well first of all, almost everyone who COMMITS murder is also male, so how is female privilege thereby reflected? Moreover, what if we pan out to the overall global picture? Then we remember that there are 126 million fewer women than men on this Earth and are left to ask why that might be if males are less often subjected to violence.donttread wrote:
I think you are right about that implication . However, I'm not sure what Polly thinks of that notion. Obviously it's an implication that is against the political grain if you will and therefore gets shockingly little press or media attention. Much like the number of men who are domestic abuse victims , not perps or the high rates of violence in Lesbian relationships. Males are murdered at a higher rate which you would never learn on TV.
The same thing goes for domestic violence: nearly all perpetrators thereof are male, regardless of whether the victim is or not, so how is the prevalence thereof indicative of female privilege? And frankly, girls and women are also definitely more likely to be beaten, raped, and killed in these situations than our male counterparts. A lot more likely when it comes to the matter of sexual violence in particular.
Lesbian predation, similarly, is virtually a myth. While some 43% of lesbian women in this country report having been sexually assaulted before, more than 80% of these report having had only male attackers, and still others a mixture. Very few are attacked only by other women. Lesbian relationships are frankly the safest kind there are, statistically speaking!
Let's pan out to the bigger picture: men have almost exclusive control of everything from the corporate boardrooms to the government, the schools, the media, the religious institutions, the military, the police, most of the guns, etc. etc. ...even the alternative criminal underworld and the terrorist movements and so forth! All of that is run more or less exclusively by men. Men basically run the world, and they have for millennia now! And yet I am asked to believe that women have harmed men more than men have harmed women. That is not even possible. Women don't have that kind of power in the world. It's an utterly completely disingenuous claim and argument to make.
