    Missouri Voters Overturn Right-To-Work

This came to light a couple of days ago, and in Missouri yet! It shows how the times are definitely changing.

    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...b0b15abaa751fb
Labor groups won a landmark and lopsided victory Tuesday as Missourians voted by referendum to overturn the state’s new right-to-work law, an embarrassing rejection for the state’s Republican lawmakers.Proposition A asked voters whether or not they would like to enact the right-to-work statute that the state legislature passed and former Gov. Eric Greitens (R) signed early last year. The “no” votes defeated the “yes” by a 2-1 margin, with 937,241 against the proposition and 452,075 for, according to returns released Tuesday night by the secretary of state.

If that is what the people of Missouri want that is on them. But considering that SCOTUS has ruled that people who don't want to join a union can't be forced to pay union dues, this ruling may not last long.

In the meantime companies will be relocating out of Missouri.

No that not what they ruled. They ruled on"fair share": public employees. Closed shops; i.e. must be a union member is what MO voted in.

Based on the precedence I alluded to above, I foresee a SCOTUS reversal. In the mean time companies will move elsewhere.

I don't see companies moving; organizing and union shops aren't that big a deal. And besides, people's attitudes are changing, as they historically do in times like these, so any company that may move will just have to move again. So they're better off stayin put and dealing with the new normal.

I doubt it; there will be no mass exodus out of Missouri by businesses. As it is, under federal law you cannot be compelled to join a union as a condition of employment; just in agency fee payer states, you may be required to pay a fee equal to what the dues/fees would be. A majority of companies could care less whether or not their employees paid dues or not since it has no impact on their business directly.

Finally, the decision handed down by SCOTUS impacts public sector unions alone and not private sector unions.

I'm going to guess, correctly, that the goonions did their usual stealth game when it came to sneaking the proposition in through the back door. Tuesday's election was not on anyone's radar and you'll discover, as is always the case, that gee! Golly! most of the voting precincts were in schools and the teachers goonions voted heavily and the opposition to the proposition, if any, wasn't well funded because it was rushed onto the ballot at the last possible moment.

Goonions. No, the trend hasn't changed. Goonions among the WORKING class are fading out.

Goonions among government parasite workers are going strong.

Claire McKaskill is still going to be thrown out of office. And the will be after she votes to confirm Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh.
    Freedom Requires Obstinance.

We the People DID NOT vote in a majority Rodent Congress, they stole it via election fraud.

So, Jet57, you are in favor of slavery and forcing people to belong to unions in order to work?

I don't think the concept of not paying union dues if you are not in the union turned on the fact that the case before SCOTUS concerned a public union.

We will see in a year or two if SCOTUS takes the case. Considering the make-up of the court, it is easier to predict how it will rule than in the past.

I'm not sure American conservatives understand just how rapidly and dramatically pro-labor public attitudes have shifted in recent years since the last recession. Consider the Occupy movement, the Fight for 15 movement, the strikingly prominent Bernie Sanders presidential campaign of 2016, the wave of wildcat teacher strikes earlier this year (which mostly took place in politically conservatives states that voted for Trump, incidentally). In that context, is it really surprising that the voters of Missouri voted 2 to 1 to overturn a major restriction on unions? The Supreme Court can rule what they want, but the more they rule against labor in this social environment, the more they will only prove their institution undemocratic in nature and themselves to be what they are: corrupt cronies of the rather unpopular corporate world who deserve to be replaced and to have their institution democratized (i.e. rendered elected, not appointed) and to have their "right" of judicial review abolished until such time.
