Here's what you get when liberalism goes un-opposed. Progressives / liberals claim to care about the needy and "under privledged", but their policy ideas hurt those very same people.

If Seattle’s business tax passes, expect a higher grocery billHundreds of supermarkets in Seattle would be subject to the highest tax rates under the city council's proposal.

Liberals just don't get it. This. The headcount tax on large companies like Amazon. Raising minimum wage. All well-intentioned, perhaps, but all do harm to those they seek to help.

In Seattle, they are looking for more ways to create a new tax. It's very difficult for them to advocate raising existing taxes.

Working class people are leaving Seattle in droves as they can not afford to live there any more. Soon in Seattle you will have two classes. The homeless and the very wealthy.

Why don't those damned homeless people just pay 3 grand a month for a one bedroom?

Quinn's First Law: Liberalism always generates the exact opposite of it's stated intent.

That was what liberal rich and politicians of Seattle wanted to do, restrict housing development and raise the price of rents above what the poor could pay.

Liberal Politicians have painted themselves in a corner and now that corner is bricked over and they cant get out. They've spent decades promising everyone everything for free for votes. Now they MUST give everyone for free because its now fully expected and if they dont get it they vote in someone else.

The working poor and young families just starting out are the ones who will be hurt because of the grocery tax. But evidently liberals don't care about them.

Set up camps well outside of the city and move the homeless there. Soup kitchens. A communal farm. Work and eat.
