Richard was killed at the battle of Bosworth Field in 1485 and buried in the city of Leicester , a short ride away of around 15 miles ..
His body was found under the Car Park of a Social Services centre , which might make RIchard the first known supporter of Socialism , after Jesus of Glastonbury about 1500 years earlier .

I saw that story. Apparently Richard was killed in battle, stripped naked, and thrown over a horse, presumably to let the victorious army see a dead king. At some point he got stabbed in the arse.

Why would they bury him under a car park? You'd think if he was a king even if he died in battle he'd be buried in some sort of cemetery or church or something like the rest of them.

ok yeah I completely misread that I thought they moved it there recently or something. Yeah I don't have an excuse for my comment. Everybody just please ignore it.

I imagine that the car park wasn't there 500 years ago.

He might have been buried in an unmarked grave by his enemies. I do believe that he wasn't well liked by his subjects.

Yes I know I just realized how stupid my comment was.

Apparently, the body was mutilated somewhat on the field but he was buried in a church. Harold's body got the same treatment at Hastings as I recall.

But you are absolutely right, as it happens .
Leicester has always been famous for its intelligentsia ( Jews ) and they came up with the Social Services concept after introducing a rudimentary type of two wheel car ( in our terms) in 1396 . We have never figured out how they thought of tarmac so early .

The opposite I suggest . His brother Edward , the King , made him Administrator of the north of England and he was liked and respected as a fair man .And prior to the middle brother ( three of them to begin with) being executed for treason , Richard was outwardly a great supporter of his elder brother , the King .
It was after Edward the King ( his brother) died that he was inspired to advance his career and wipe out all potential opposition -- like the two young princes .
But he forgot to get somebody to go over to France and get rid of Henry who had been there in exile for 15( ?) years .
That mistake cost him his life ( Bosworth Field) and ended the Plantagenet dynasty and ushered in the Tudors --- Henry .

P.S. He was buried in a Franciscan monastery , I believe . Henry Tudor was a bitter guy , knocked that down and tarmacked it for a car park , as Chloe rightly told us .
