View Full Version : Government now BREEDING Blacks: San Francisco will pay pregnant women $1000 per month

Sybil Ludington

San Francisco Mayor London Breed is launching a new social program called Abundant Birth Project. The program will start by redistributing $2.25 million to pregnant women living in San Francisco. The women will receive $1000 per month over nine months gestation and during the first six months of their baby’s life.

But there’s a catch: In order to receive the cash, a pregnant woman’s ethnicity must be African American or Pacific-Islander. (https://www.lawenforcementtoday.com/san-fran-launches-program-to-pay-pregnant-women-1000-per-month/)

In effect, the Mayor of San Francisco, named “Breed,” is rolling out a real-life breeding program to try to increase the population of people of color.

What a misleading thread. The truth is that this is not a "breeding program" of any kind, but a health related program:

"Through a new pilot program, approximately 150 lower-income Black and Pacific Islander pregnant women in San Francisco will receive a $1,000 monthly stipend in an effort to curb high rates of deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth.

The reason: These two groups are most at risk for preterm births and infant and mother deaths during pregnancy and childbirth, San Francisco Mayor London Breed and Expecting Justice said during last week's launch of the pilot program called Abundant Birth Project."

Dr, does this program not reek of discrimination and racism. Why only blacks and pacific islanders? Keep in mind this program is funded by all taxpayer dollars. My issue is not with the effort, my issue is the blatant discrimination being demonstrated in the policy.

BTW the less expensive solution would be to defund Planned Parenthood if you want more black children being born.

Then why should Planned Parenthood get so many of OUR dollars? If these women don't want their children, then let them go full term and pay them to take their child instead of murdering them.

In addition, if these women don't want babies, except to get paid "rent" while they're pregnant, how well are they going to take care of them? Are they going to abuse them when the money runs out? Are they going to blame their babies for making them change their lifestyle when they didn't want to?

According to this (https://patch.com/california/san-francisco/mayor-london-breed-announces-launch-pilot-program-provide-basic-income) is a SF public-private initiative.

"The Abundant Birth Project is a simple, yet novel, approach to achieving better maternal health and birthing outcomes: provide pregnant Black and Pacific Islander women a monthly income supplement for the duration of their pregnancy and during the postpartum period as an economic and reproductive health intervention. Prematurity is a leading cause of infant mortality and has been linked to lifelong conditions, such as behavioral development issues, learning difficulties, and chronic disease. In San Francisco, Black infants are almost twice as likely to be born prematurely compared with White infants (13.8% versus 7.3%, from 2012-2016) and Pacific Islander infants have the second-highest preterm birth rate (10.4%). Furthermore, Black families account for half of the maternal deaths and over 15% of infant deaths, despite representing only 4% of all births. Pacific Islander families face similar disparities."

"The project is a fully funded public-private partnership designed under the collaborative change model, a process which directly involves all impacted and interested parties in decision-making. The Abundant Birth Project entered its design phase after receiving a Hellman Collaborative Change Initiative grant from the Hellman Foundation, and has since gone on to also receive an award of $1.1 million from Jack Dorsey's #startsmall campaign, $200,000 from Genentech, and $200,000 from the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Additional funders include California Preterm Birth Initiative at UCSF, WKKF (Kellogg Foundation), San Francisco Health Plan, Tipping Point, Economic Security Project, Walter and Elise Haas, San Francisco Foundation, and Friedman Family Foundation."

Dr, it seems discriminatory, using taxpayer funds, to exclude all other races from a monthly income supplement for the activity of having sex. I guess you are saying Black and Pacific Islander women are somehow 'different' women.

The question that you asked me was absurd. There is ample evidence that this initiative has nothing whatsoever to do with abortion and your unsubstantiated suggestion that it does, doesn't make it so. I have now posted multiple (credible) links regarding this project.

Just an FYI, but your source - DC Dirty Laundry - has the following rating on media bias fact check:

QUESTIONABLE SOURCE
A questionable source exhibits one or more of the following: extreme bias, consistent promotion of propaganda/conspiracies, poor or no sourcing to credible information, a complete lack of transparency and/or is fake news. Fake News is the deliberate attempt to publish hoaxes and/or disinformation for the purpose of profit or influence (Learn More (https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/2017/05/31/being-more-media-savvy-wont-stop-the-spread-of-fake-news-heres-why/)). Sources listed in the Questionable Category may be very untrustworthy and should be fact checked on a per article basis. Please note sources on this list are not considered fake news unless specifically written in the reasoning section for that source. See all Questionable sources. (https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/fake-news/)

Overall, we rate DC Dirty Laundry Questionable due to extreme right-wing bias and promotion of propaganda and conspiracies. This source also publishes fake news as evidenced from the above links, but they have not been fact-checked by an IFCN fact checker as of yet.

It's not that unusual or discriminatory to target highly at-risk groups for assistance. Furthermore, if such additional assistance produces better birth outcomes and results in healthier mothers who are better able to care for their children, it means that there will be less chance of special needs children and sick mothers or children without mothers who will fall upon the state for care in the future.
