A Republican strategist published a book entitled “Everything Trump Touches Dies”.
For those of us who have seen what Trump has done during his presidency, and who are horrified at we have seen, the title of that book is right on target.
Trump has caused great harm to institutions, agencies, programs, and agreements that exist in order to make America great, to keep America safe, to keep international affairs on the right track, and to keep our planet safe.
Obviously, his goals are:
1 - to undermine ... NOT to improve
2 - to break ... NOT to fix
3 - to destroy ... NOT to build
Here are a few examples:
- Trump constantly attacks and undermines our free press. And he has been highly successful to a dangerous degree. He has convinced millions of his fans that reporters are “enemies of the people” and what they report is “fake news”, and that ONLY HE tells the truth.
- Trump has attacked and undermined our court system. For example: >He has attacked judges when they abided by the law and were not loyal to HIM. He has fired federal prosecutors, and a deputy attorney general, for the same reasons. >With the help of Moscow Mitch and the Banana Republicans in the Senate, he has been stacking the federal courts with Conservative judges, in an effort to appoint judges who will serve him ... and judges who will take our nation BACKWARDS to an earlier, and a DARKER, time.

As a result of Trump’s court stacking, the federal courts are becoming an ALL-POWERFUL HOSTILE force against women’s rights, civil rights, LGBT rights, voting rights, workers’ rights, consumers’ rights, ObamaCare, the environment, the climate, safety nets for the poor and the middle class, and many other issues that millions of Americans care about. And thus, our federal court system, including the US Supreme Court, is in the process of becoming a TOTALLY USELESS tool for those of us who care about those issues.
- Trump has attacked and undermined our intelligence agencies. For example: >He has called our intelligence people “Nazis”. >He fired a number of our most talented intelligence people because they investigated him, when they had credible evidence that he was trying to illegally rig the 2016 election in his favor. >He blindly swallows Putin’s every word, while he ignores what our intelligence agencies tell him. (Why does he always try to appease Putin? What’s in it for him?)
- Trump is trying to dismantle our healthcare system. For example, he is trying to have the US Supreme Court repeal Obamacare, instead of trying to build on it and improve it. He says that he has a plan to replace it with something better. Knowing how UNRELIABLE his word is, most probably his plan is to SAY that he has a plan. And we all know that he is NOT MENTALLY CAPABLE of replacing our healthcare system with anything useful. (Remember when he said: Who knew healthcare could be so complicated? The answer: EVERYBODY knew ... everybody but you, Trump.) If he gets his way, at some point, MILLIONS MORE of us will NOT have affordable healthcare.
- Trump wants to cut funding to Social Security and Medicare, and he wants those cuts to be permanent. (For some reason, he wants to make life harder for the millions of older Americans.)
- Trump has attacked and undermined many of our federal government agencies. For example: >He calls people who work for those agencies the “deep state”, when they are loyal to our Constitution, instead being subservient to him. >Many of our federal government agencies, which in the past could be trusted to serve the American people, can no longer be trusted to do that. Now, their purpose is to serve HIM, and to work against the American people.
- Trump has perverted the mission of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (the CDC). He is now using that agency to spread disinformation about the Coronavirus for his political gain, instead of using it to disseminate scientific information needed to protect the health and lives of the American people. As a result, he is putting the American people in EVEN GREATER DANGER than he already has, because of his GROSS MISMANAGEMENT of the Coronavirus problem.
- Trump has perverted the mission of the Environment Protection Agency (the EPA). For example, instead of protecting the air we breathe, and the water we drink, from pollution as it is INTENDED to do, that agency now ALLOWS air and water pollution. Thus, he has turned that agency into the Environment Pollution Agency.

Trump’s actions against the EPA are a deliberate attack on our health. For example, his support for air pollution, coupled with his exacerbation of the Coronavirus problem, is a two-pronged attack on the health of our lungs.
- Trump has taken steps to cripple our Post Office by dismantling millions of dollars worth of equipment, in order to prevent postal workers from efficiently doing their important work for the American people. And he is doing so in an effort to steal the 2020 election, despite the fact that he is causing serious hardships for millions of Americans. (With Trump, it’s NOT what’s good for the American people. It’s what’s good for HIM.)
- Trump has gutted our State Department, and he has called it the “deep state department”. (That should appease his puppet master, Putin.)
- Trump has taken steps to undermine NATO and our other alliances. (That should also appease his puppet master.) What have his actions accomplished? Answer: Our enemies do NOT respect us, and they LAUGH at us. And our allies do NOT respect us, and they PITY us.
- Trump took us out of the Iran Deal, a deal that he did not understand. The deal was not perfect, but it was WORKING. He chose to “believe” that it was not working, because that is what he WANTED to believe, because Obama got us into that deal. As a result, the Iranians have resumed their nuclear program. And they are now closer to producing a nuclear weapon, than they were when Trump took us out of the deal.
- Trump took us out of the Paris Climate Agreement, an agreement that he did not understand. He chose to “believe” that America was getting a bad deal in that agreement, because that is what he WANTED to believe, because Obama got us into that agreement.

Let’s ignore Trump’s REALITY TV mentality on this issue for a moment, and look at REALITY. We can see disasters all around us, for example: many forest fires, heavy flooding, and many hurricanes and other severe storms. According to the VAST MAJORITY of the world’s scientists, these disasters are being caused by climate change. But Trump does not believe the scientists, NOT because he has any evidence to the contrary, but because he DOES NOT WANT to believe them.

According to the scientists, the many and severe forest fires occurring in our western states are the result of climate change. Driven by his IMAGINARY “great and unmatched wisdom”, Trump disagrees with the scientists, and he says that the forest fires are the result of not sweeping the forest floors. (However, he doesn’t say whether we should use push brooms, or vacuum cleaners with VERY LONG cords.)
- Trump decided to terminate our financial support for the World Health Organization (the WHO), because it made some mistakes regarding the Coronavirus. Terminating that support was one of MANY mistakes that Trump has made regarding the Coronavirus. Although the WHO did make some mistakes early on, it provides critical and useful information about the virus. That information helps our healthcare workers, and our scientists, to combat the virus in their efforts to protect the American people. Thus, by punishing the WHO for their mistakes, he is punishing US for their mistakes.
- Because of Trump’s WILLFUL and GROSS mismanagement of the Coronavirus, our economy has suffered FAR MORE than it had to, and SIGNIFICANT portions of it may NEVER be able to recover. (Thanks Trump! Thanks for nothing!)

Trump likes to say that “the cure cannot be worse than the disease” (in other words, our efforts to eradicate the virus should not be allowed to harm our economy). This attitude shows that he is oblivious to the obvious. That is, he does NOT understand that the key to getting our economy back on track is to PROPERLY manage the virus. And he does NOT understand WHAT “proper management of the virus” is.

Bottom line: IF we listen to the scientists and the medical professionals, and thus manage the virus PROPERLY, the cure will NOT be worse than the disease. Remember: The economy has suffered FAR MORE that it had to, because Trump does not listen to the scientists and the medical professionals. So, his efforts to render the cure “less worse” than the disease have been an ABYSMAL FAILURE.

Trump and the congressional Republicans liked to say that Obama was the “food stamp president”. As we have seen during this pandemic, Trump has become the “food LINE president”. And that is because he trashed the good economy that he inherited from Obama and Biden, because he does NOT have the ability to properly manage the Coronavirus. Trump is TOTALLY clueless, and he is relying on MAGIC to make the virus go away.
- Trump is in the process of subverting our democracy. He is attacking and undermining the institutions that make our democracy a democracy. For example, he is trying to rig the 2020 election in his favor: by trying to force the Ukrainians to invent fake dirt on Biden; by condoning Putin’s efforts to invent fake dirt on Biden; by sending Giuliani to Ukraine to dig up fake dirt on Biden; by dismantling our Post Office in order to prevent mail-in voting; by filing lawsuits against states for implementing mail-in voting; by trying to bribe certain groups of voters; by telling his fans to break the law and vote twice; by enlisting pro-Trump “poll watchers” to intimidate anti-Trump voters; by encouraging his fans to physically block anti-Trumpers from voting; by enlisting state Republicans to rig the election in his favor; by enlisting the US Supreme Court to rig the election in his favor; and by trying any other anti-democracy dirty trick that Dirty Don can imagine.
- It IS true that Trump does seem to have a “magic touch” for a few things ... for example, the pre-Covid economy. After he inherited a good economy from Obama and Biden, there were a few improvements to it. These improvements were the result of tax cuts that went MOSTLY to those at the top (including him), and also the result of MASSIVE deregulation.

However, his tax cuts and deregulations do have some NEGATIVE side effects. His tax cuts mean a larger national debt. And the effects of his deregulations include more air pollution and more water pollution. And the word on the street is that he will have average Americans pay for the tax cuts (that went mostly to HIM and those at the TOP). So, even his magic touch has a tendency to break things.
This list could be longer, but I’m going to end it now.
As MOST of us know:
Trump has already done serious damage to almost everything that he has touched.
We need to repair that damage before it’s too late.
And we should NOT allow him to touch anything else.
