Anybody remember the Lone Ranger? The TV series, starring Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger and Jay Silverheels as his faithful sidekick (Kemo-sabe) Tonto, ran from 1949 to 1957. Disney is all set to release a new movie about the Lone Ranger and Tonto in July 2013, starring Armie Hammer as the Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp (yes, Johnny Depp) as Tonto. The Ranger looks pretty much as he always has....but Tonto got a major makeover.

Disney's Lone Ranger and Tonto (I don't like the makeover; I think they made Tonto look evil)

A little trivia: Now if they could just change Tonto's name. Spanish-speaking people got such a kick out of such a serious character being named Tonto...which in Spanish means dumb, stupid, or silly!

Well they cast Johnny Depp as Tonto's character, so I doubt they intend to make him serious.

I remember the Lone Ranger and Tonto well, watched it as a kid and then went outside and re-enacted the scenes. I'm sure the new movie will destroy the old, but I look forward to it!

I remember in 7th grade music class, when the teacher was trying to expose us to some classical music and played a record of the finale to the William Tell Overture by Rossini. I scoffed and said, that's not a classic, that's the Lone Ranger song!
