A bodyguard is an employee. As such, employees use "Yes, sir" and "No, sir." That's just good manners and common sense. An employee who even hints or can be mistaken to have hinted that he is not 100% bodyguard will likely get canned.

Trump's mindset - if such a primitive process can be so termed - is simply that personal loyalty to him has to outweigh any other factor or consideration in every situation. Look at all the top officials and appointees that he has summarily canned, often over the most trivial or obscure difference of opinion. To Trump, it wasn't important how well they were doing their job, or how principled or logical their opinion might have been; they told him something he didn't want to hear and so they were gone. If it were not for the fact that current Civil Service law prohibits career government service workers from being terminated or otherwise disciplined for partisan political reasons, the firings over the last four years would have been the most widespread bureaucratic massacre in American history. (Something Trump has been trying to change lately, via executive order.)
