MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — NASA's planet-hunting Kepler spacecraft has confirmed the discovery of its first alien world in its host star's habitable zone — that just-right range of distances that could allow liquid water to exist — and found more than 1,000 new explanet candidates, researchers announced today (Dec. 5).

The new finds bring the Kepler space telescope's total haul to 2,326 potential planets in its first 16 months of operation. These discoveries, if confirmed, would quadruple the current tally of worlds known to exist beyond our solar system, which recently topped 700 (http://us.lrd.yahoo.com/SIG=12ktdescb/EXP=1324471248/**http%3A//www.space.com/13680-700-alien-planets-kepler-mission.html).

"We're getting closer and closer to discovering the so-called 'Goldilocks planet,'" Pete Worden, director of NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif., said during a press conference today.

The newfound planet in the habitable zone is called Kepler-22b. It is located about 600 light-years away, orbiting a sun-like star.

Kepler-22b's radius is 2.4 times that of Earth, and the two planets have roughly similar temperatures. If the greenhouse effect operates there similarly to how it does on Earth, the average surface temperature on Kepler-22b would be 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius).....snip~

Known as the Goldilocks Zone.....All day NASA had mention this planet and they are railing about that they believe it's temp is infact 72 degrees or close to it. This planet is also larger than the Earth and I guess orbits another Sun in this Zone. Althought I am not sure about that. Check That, yep it does.. :satellite:

Kepler22B.....damn near looks like Earth and it is Bigger! :tinfoil:

Due to the Discovery of Kepler22B!!!!!

Planet Kepler 22-b Discovery: U.S. Military Funds SETI's Search for Aliens.....

The recent discovery of a potentially habitable blue planet, Kepler 22-b, orbiting a star similar to the sun, by NASA (http://thepoliticalforums.com/topics/detail/192/nasa/)'s Kepler Mission, has persuaded the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence to advance (http://thepoliticalforums.com/#) its activities to verify the probabilities of spotting alien life forms on its surface.

The planet, which lies in the "Goldilocks Zone" of its planetary system, has a surface temperature of about 22 C (72 F), which is comparable to that of Earth. According to NASA (http://thepoliticalforums.com/topics/detail/192/nasa/) astronomers, the probability of spotting water on the newly discovered planet is high, which has sparked speculation regarding the existence of aliens and the possibility of humanity being able to migrate to the new planet.

NASA's promising discovery has prompted the U.S. Air Force Space Command to provide additional funds for observatory re-activation and operations at SETI, as part of a formal assessment of the instrument's utility for Space Situational Awareness.

The Space Command is one of the few organizations responsible for obtaining and maintaining the awareness needed for successful and safe space operations.

Tarter said SETI's Allen Telescope Array will examine all planetary systems found by the Kepler mission: "In SETI, as with all research, preconceived notions such as habitable zones could be barriers to discovery. So, with sufficient future funding from our donors, it's our intention to examine all of the planetary systems found by Kepler.".....snip~

All coincidincy eh..... So much so that the US Air Force will now fund Seti?! The same guys who closed Operation Blue Book. The same guys that stated there are no UFO's in the Sky. Until their Pilots began reporting it even more. Then the NASA Astronaut Pilots came out about what they have seen in a Shuttle or from the Space Station. Then Astronauts from the Apollo Missions.

What is it we are not being told? NASA's Mission was Changed before this discovery. The UN created a Committee with a Think-Tank and is working on the issue of, if life is encountered. Who Would speak for Mankind?! :tinfoil:

Interesting to note that some of the Ancient Civilizations talk about the Gods coming from a Star in this region of Space. All that discussion on Orions Belt. Also related the 13th Sign of the Wheel of Samsara or life and death. In our age the Zodiac. Mentions of a Star called Siruis from the same zone of space. :icon_farao:

Da Ancient Sanskrit Texts Echo loudly In Time!!!!! :clock: :spacecraft: <<<Da Gods!

Wow, great findings! How far away is this planet? Is this the one that is only 20 LY away?

I still think it is a bad idea to essentially wave our hands in the air and try to attract the attention of intelligent alien life. If they discover us we could easily be dunzo for a multitude of reasons (weapon tech, resource collection, disease vector, building of interstellar highway (ok, I stole that last one from Hitchhiker's Guide ). If we find some worms or a basic organism that'd be cool.

600 LY away.....just a hop, skip, and jump away. Kinda like UFO's do! :glasses7: and IMO we don't need any worms with greater powers than us coming here. Listen to the talk. US Air Force Space Command.

So if they land here in the US and refuse to go home. Will they really be classified as an Illegal Alien?

600?! Darn, that's a lot farther than I thought.

Yeah.....then there was the Belgium event. Over the UN, NATO, and the Bildeberg. According to the Belgium Defense ministry. Over 500 credible witnesses of the same sighting. UFO caught on Radar, in visual contact by Belgium F-16s, and the sightings. All 3 seeing the same thing at the same time. From the ground and the Air, and from all different kinds of locations.

The General of the Defense Ministry says he cannot tell you what it was. What he can tell you is.....what it is not. Which then he listed from plane naming stealth as well, to helicopter, to durigibles and balloons, to Drones or UAV's/Satellites. That whatever it is.....it is not man-made. This is a Defense Minister for the Country of Belgium. An Air Force General. In Which he had no choice but to scramble fighters as something had invaded their airspace and because it could not be identified. Had to be considered a threat. Even tho it made no Hostile move towards any structure or the fighters.

Much more credence to the issue than the alleged Cloaked Ship by Mercury.....IMO!
