Linoleic Acid is a omega 6 fatty acid. Omega 6s when not in proper balance with omega 3s wrecks your health.

Linoleic acid (LA) makes up the bulk — about 60% to 80% — of omega-6 and is the primary contributor to nearly all chronic diseases. While considered an essential fat, when consumed in excessive amounts, LA acts as a metabolic poison
Polyunsaturated fats such as LA are highly susceptible to oxidation, which means the fat breaks down into harmful subcomponents. OXLAMS (oxidated LA metabolites) are what cause the damage
Over the last 150 years, the LA in the human diet has increased from about 2 to 3 grams a day to 30 or 40 grams. LA used to make up 1% to 3% of the energy in the human diet and now it makes up 15% to 20%
The omega-3 to omega-6 ratio is also very important, but simply increasing the amount of omega-3 that you eat is ill advised. You really need to minimize your omega-6 to prevent damage
At a molecular level, excess LA consumption damages your metabolism and impedes your body’s ability to generate energy in your mitochondria

That's a good article. I've been trying to modify the things I eat with regards to fats, sugar , carbs etc.

I still indulge in foods I should avoid but it's a process in the making. I can tell now how my body and mind responds to certain foods. High sugar days are a disaster the next day. I sleep way too much and feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

Fats like the vegetable oil I make tater tots in? Not good according to the article. I need to take the time to fix them in the oven.

Ketchup? If it comes out ketchup is bad for you I'm a dead man walking, like yesterday

Yes vegetable oils are a big source of omega 6s.

It sounds like staying with natural foods and away from processed foods, is still the rule.
I remember when the experts told us to stay away from olive oil and use vegetable oils.

It sounds like staying with natural foods and away from processed foods, is still the rule.
I remember when the experts told us to stay away from olive oil and use vegetable oils.
Olive oils - be careful. Too much heat and they oxidize. Sauté on low heat is fine, but don't try to fry something in olive oil.

There are other non-vegetable oils that are safe to cook with at high heat.

When that's done, you can cook some poke chops or chicken wings in the fresh, hot lard!

The ban on trans fats was not pushed by conservatives. It was the left wing..>Weight watches was pushing this notion BIG time.

WW also pushed the benefit of Linoleic acid. They should be sued for the damage they've done to millions. The Federal government too..that nutrition pyramid. Should be called the Death of nutrition Pyramid. The increase in heart disease, diabetes, etc is criminal.
