My mother fell a few days ago. Broke her wrist, head injuries, sprains etc. She's an 82 year old diabetic so it's not pleasant for her.

I went to visit and they said "no visitors Covid". They gave me a map showed on map where she was.

So I go wave to her. I had handed her nurse a note that says "I love you".

When I was knocking on the window she was in a wheelchair with her back to the window. She could not see me and could not figure out where the noise was coming from.

About that time her nurse walked in her room handed her my note. Mom turned around and saw me and was so happy. I was too actually but a bit Disturbed by how banged up she was.

Long story short. It was a very special moment we shared.

OMG! SOOOO glad she's in the hospital getting looked after!!

It's got to be tough on you, not being able to give her a hug. And I don't understand the reason why you can't wear a gown and mask to see her.
When I was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago, I was in the ICU ward, and there were visitors to patients there.

I understand the hospital is liable for everything that goes on, but there's got to be a line somewhere thats got to be set.
It's not fair to people who need to physically be in the same room with someone.

If she doesn't have one already, I would suggest a baby doll for your mother.
Supposedly, they help them cope with being alone, or not having anyone to talk with.
They are supposed to be a very good therapy tool.

It started as a therapy tool for Dementia patients, but others have found that these dolls work on seniors that are lonely, have too much quiet time, are beginning to show signs of dementia or Alzheimer's, or don't have any friends or family to visit them.

This article is about dementia patients, but the info about the doll is useful.

That's adorable. You know how I love Teddy bears too so it's the perfect "bear hug". Thank you, princess

I think Hospitals are CRUEL not letting the family come and hug *physically*
their mother or father

They moved her already from the hospital to rehabilitation. She looked so lonely and pitiful sitting in that wheelchair alone in the room.

The nurse said she had been acting a bit strange too. Wouldn't let them change her hearing aid batteries etc.

I told the nurse to go to her room and tell her it's a new law that your hearing aid batteries have to be changed.

It worked

Best wishes for your mom.

Thank you

A hip fracture would have been a very big problem. At her age the mortality rate is 30% within 12 months.

The risk of tapping out within 3 months are 500-800% higher in her age group. I don't know WTH she's going to do about the broken arm. That's going to be tough but

At least she is in the US. If she was in a "free health care nation," they would not do anything for that condition for a person her age.
